Trainings FAQWhat types of YogaKids trainings are available?YogaKids offers both public trains and workshops as well as our highly acclaimed YogaKids Teacher Training Program. Our most recongnized and the point of entry into the YogaKids Certification program is Foundations. YogaKids offers the world renown Foundations 4-Day program to anyone interested in learning the fundamental principles and proven methods to enable children to improve their world through attention, body-awareness and yoga. No previous yoga experience is necessary. This experential and content-rich event is appropriate to every level of interest and experience. We attract professionals, teachers, parents and serious yoga teachers while delivering an experience that meets your need and comfort level. Foundations Calendar and to Register CERTIFICATION through YOGAKIDS:YogaKids proudly offers the very best professional training spefically designed for the emerging "Yoga for children" facilitator or professional in a children's setting. This program is also widely attended by therapists and educators and offers personal mastery at its best. Through the combination below, the participant elevates to the level of Master Teacher and is well-prepared to incorporate the proven YogaKids teaching philosophy and practices, to create and teach classes to groups of children in a variey of private and professional settings. Foundations 4-Day as a Prerequisite Advanced Training Practicum (ATP) The next step after Foundations. An online, independent home-study program and graduation project must be completed to earn Certification as a Certified YogaKids Facilitator (CYKF).

We have trainings in the United States and internationally! Are there pre-requisites? Do I have to know yoga or be a teacher to take this program?We ask that you bring an open heart and your love for children. One year yoga experience is very helpful, but not required. Once you are in Advanced Training, you must commit to studying with a qualified yoga teacher in your area at least once (preferably 2-3 times) per week. Do I have to take the Advanced Training if I take Foundations?No. The 32 hour training in the Foundations of YogaKids will enable you to bring yoga to the children in your life. However, you may find yourself so empowered that you choose to go on for full certification and join the world-wide community of YogaKids facilitators, teachers and partners. What exactly is Advanced Training?Advanced Training in YogaKids will enable you to earn certification. We offer two levels of certification. A Certified YogaKids Facilitator (CYKF) completes an at home practicum under the guidance of the YogaKids master teachers and program requirements. A Certified YogaKid Trainer (CYKT) completes the same at home practicum plus attends a week-long immersion training called Advanced Training Intensive (ATI).
How long does it take to complete the at home Advanced Training Practicum?The program requires completion in 9 months but some students my qualify for faster pace and graduate sooner. There is a 6 month minimum due to the intensity requirements of personal mastery of the YogaKids way. Is YogaKids recognized by Yoga Alliance?Yes. If you are an RYT with Yoga Alliance, you can apply any YogaKids Certification Program hours, Taste, Teen, or Tools for Schools training hours, or Foundations hours to your CE requirements. Yoga Alliance has plans to publisha 100-hour Specialization in Yoga for Children. In the future YogaKids International will apply for the 200-hour Registered Yoga School designation with Yoga Alliance. We will make updates to this information as soon as we receive it. Can I use the YogaKids logo when advertising for my classes before I am Certified?Yes. When in YogaKids Advanced Training, you are considered a YogaKids Associate (YKA). During that one year of training, you may use the logo and call your classes YogaKids. What if you do not offer a Foundations training in my area?Please check our training calendar for where and when they are held. Most of our trainees travel to a location at the time that is most convenient for them. Also please consider our new Local Area Host program that offers the opportunity to earn credit toward certification based on your contribution to bringing a Foundations to your area! What does certified and licensed mean and what are the yearly dues?In order to maintain certification, a minimum of 40 hours of yoga instruction with a certified yoga instructor and a minimum of 8 hours of YogaKids, child education, and or/personal development courses or workshops are required by per year in order to have the right to renew the license on terms offered by YKI. Attendance at YK events above or Foundations Courses may be included.
Do I need liability insurance?All YogaKids trainees and CYKTs are required to maintain liability insurance. We believe that you, the children, the parents and the public are entitled to the confidence that liability insurance brings. International exceptions may apply. Do I get my insurance through YogaKids?No. YKI provides a list of insurance companies in the Advanced Training Manual. Can I use YogaKids to teach older (ages 7-12) children?Absolutely! While our current videos are aimed at younger children, during our trainings, we teach people how to use YogaKids methods on kids from age 3 to teenagers! The YogaKids Tools for Schools DVDs are designed for children ages 7-11. How do I find a YogaKids teacher in my area?Use the Find a Teacher page to locate the closest Certified YogaKids Facilitator to you.
