This Level 1 Training is a stand-alone training event AND the first step of our Full Certification track..
Learn all the benefits of Full Certification here.

This event, held in areas around the world, introduces attendees to the YogaKids’ one-of-a-kind way of teaching yoga to children. The YogaKids program is more than just poses. It blends traditional yoga and its benefits with theories of multiple learning styles in a comprehensive, imaginative, and playful approach to education. This revolutionary approach, developed by YogaKids founder, yoga-pioneer/ educator/author Marsha Wenig, has been helping children — along with adults — discover the pleasures and benefits of yoga for over 20 years.

Attendees will experience 2 full days of life-changing love and laughter, led by one of our experienced trainers. They will be introduced to all 14 of the YogaKids Elements, the building blocks of this amazing program. These Elements (Math Medley, Laughing Language, Visual Vignettes… to name just a few) incorporate all the different ways children learn. They combine yoga with reading, writing, science, art, music, games, ecology, philosophy and much more — and thus, create a matrix for learning that’s accessible to all children.

Attendees also will be introduced to the 20 categories of YogaKids poses/activities. The YogaKids program has over 185 poses/activities and the Foundations Training teaches 85 of them. (The others can be learned by joining the Certification track.) Some poses are based on traditional yoga asanas, while many are unique to the YogaKids program. In addition, attendees will learn successful strategies for lesson planning and will have the opportunity to team-teach an original YogaKids class to children. Other topics covered during the workshop include teaching teens, inclusive teaching, and guidelines for teaching a successful YogaKids class.

Foundations Training events are for anyone wanting to give the gift of yoga to children: yogis, parents, teachers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other child-focused professionals. No yoga experience is required.

 Certified YogaKids Teacher Laura Grundstrom

TRAINER: Laura Grundstrom

Laura has been teaching children in many different capacities for the past twenty years. As a preschool classroom teacher, she was looking for a better way to help children learn to manage their bodies and emotions.  That is when she found YogaKids and fell in love with the idea of teaching to the whole child. She took the Level 1 training and began to use some of the techniques in classroom and was amazed at how the children responded. After the birth of her second child Laura was able to leave the classroom and she currently is a yoga specialist in a variety of preschools and offers classes to pre-teens and teens in local yoga studios.  YogaKids provided her with a way to successfully balance the life of a working mother. Laura continues to love learning and has received her 200 hour adult yoga certificate through Divine Play Yoga. She also has a Ring One Teacher certificate from Circus Yoga and a Stretch What Matters level 1 certificate where she learned about bringing yoga to children with special needs. Children have so much to teach us if we just take the time to stop and listen. As a mother of two girls, Laura is often learning ways to incorporate balance, playfulness and of course the bravery to try new things into her lifestyle.
