Exploring the 4 Paths of Yoga

With a background as a dance instructor Alicia Chapman Mauldin naturally fell in love with yoga early. It did not take long before she followed her passion for instructing to began teaching yoga classes, which she has done since 2002 and brings a playful personality to her regular adult yoga classes. Alicia is a mother of three young children and wanted to share the joys of yoga with more than her own children. Alicia likes to laugh and keep yoga fun for both adults and children.

Teaching Children with Special Needs

Sue’s passion is working collaboratively with others to lead and inspire the social, emotional, and cognitive growth of students who face so many modern-day challenges. This passion has been weaved into her daily experiences for more than thirty years in the education field. The degrees she holds in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Educational Leadership are just a small part of her foundation. It’s the actual experiences she’s had that have been the most rewarding and have shaped her beliefs that all children have beautiful hearts and lights to shine if we show them how.

Child Development Theories and their Applications for Teaching Different Age Groups
Session #3: July 6, 2019
Tamara (Tammy) is a RYT-200, CYKT and Certified Girlvana Teacher. She began teaching in 2002 and has been teaching children exclusively since 2014. Her work takes her to numerous schools within 2 school districts, community centers and private classes in her area where she shares yoga, self-regulation techniques and mindfulness practices. Her students range from Kindergarten to twelfth grade and she believes one day her own children will jump on the yoga train too!
Shannon Rosnau, CYKT
Teaching Trauma-Informed Yoga
Session #4: July 13, 2019
Shannon holds BA (hons) and MA degrees in Political Science from the University of Alberta. She trained as a life coach through CoachU. A 25 year practitioner of yoga, she is currently working to deepen her knowledge through a 200 hour adult yoga teacher training. Shannon is a “snowbird” who gratefully divides her time between Qualicum Beach, British Columbia and Palm Desert, California. She is blessed to share her life with her husband, 4 kiddos, golden retriever and grey kitty!
Don Wenig, YogaKids Co-Founder
Childhood Development and the Chakras
Session #5: July 20, 2019
Don Wenig is co-founder of YogaKids International, Dancing Feet Yoga Center, and the GoGiveYoga Foundation. His private healing practice is balanced with overseeing the YogaKids creative team, being an active Go Give Yoga board member, and working as the lead E-500 RYT instructor of the Dancing Feet Yoga teacher training program.
Don’s passion for energy work began in 1973 while studying reflexology. This eventually led to formal training in Shiatsu with Master Kaneko at the Shiatsu Massage School of California. Introduced to yoga in 1978, his primary studies were with Anna Forrest, Ganga White, Tracy Rich, Manuso Manos and Angela Farmer. He received teacher certification from White Lotus Yoga in 1981 and taught classes at The Center for Yoga until 1989. At that time, he moved back to his home state of Indiana where he helped found YogaKids with his wife and partner, Marsha.
His in-depth study of Ayurveda, Tantra, Reiki, Reflexology, Rebirthing, Cranio Sacral Therapy, Bodytalk™, Shiatsu, NLP, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy™ and Access Consciousness™ lends a broad perspective to his intuitive style of healing work, as well as his contributions to YogaKids. Don volunteers with several local organizations, bringing yoga to children of all ages. He is also a devoted husband, father, drummer, artist and living foods enthusiast.
Kim Vulinovic, E-RYT, CYKT
Classroom Management Strategies and Situations and The Business of Yoga
Session #6: July 27, 2019 and Session #8: August 10, 2019
Kim began her yoga practice in 1996 after the birth of her youngest daughter and was surprised to find that yoga helped, not only her physical body, but all aspects of her life. She joined YogaKids in 2001 looking for a career that merged her love of yoga with an interest in child development and education. Kim is designated by Yoga Alliance as a ERYT-200 hour and teaches both child-focused and adult-focused yoga classes.
Julie Pate, E-RYT, CYKT
Anatomical Planes, Alignment and Injury Prevention
Session #7: August 3, 2019
Julie Pate fell in love with yoga over 20 years ago. She is a YogaKids Trainer. She holds a degrees in Physical Education and is Certified in adult yoga, YogaKids, Pilates and personal training. Julie has been teaching fitness, yoga and Pilates for over 25 years. She is an ERYT 500, with over 1000 hours of study in many styles of yoga. When not teaching yoga, Pilates or fitness classes, Julie also loves to write about her passions, and is a regular contributor to the YogaKids blog and webinars. YogaKids creator Marsha Wenig inspired Julie to teach yoga to children in 2006. She lives in the western suburbs of Chicago with her husband and two young sons.
